This past Monday, Three Valleys Community Foundation (3VCF) held the silver anniversary celebration of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Fellowship Breakfast at Palm Events Center in Pleasanton, CA.
The organization, where I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors, created something even more far reaching, demonstrating compassion, honor, and community in seven (7) areas of our region.
The morning meant a lot to me as I thought about those who fought to get Dr. King’s birthday as a national federal holiday, now observed on the third Monday each January (near Dr. King’s actual birthday on January 15th).
Among them was my old boss, U.S. Senator Bob Dole, whose impact on our nation is recognized at the Dole Institute of Politics.
Here’s a list of the award honorees, chosen by our organization for their philanthropy, volunteerism, and leadership:
🥇 David Behring – Danville
🥇 Gary Alpert – San Ramon
🥇 Gina Halow & Mindy Longo (IMPACT Diablo Valley) – Alamo
🥇 Michael Karami – Dublin
🥇 Faith Alpher – Livermore
🥇 Gary & Nancy Harrington – Pleasanton
🥇 Jim O’Laughlin – Sunol
🥇 Rabia Bader – NextGen Young Philanthropist
